After the 2017 Search for Miss World Canada discovered Cynthia Menard, the entire assembly of Regional Delegates went dancing at REBEL Nightclub, one of the largest and most popular clubs in downtown Toronto.
This massive club formerly known as Sound Academy has been an institution in the city for a decade, but now made over as REBEL it has once again become the hottest ticket in town. The lineup for the club was hundreds of people long and snaked for a quarter of the way down the street. The entire area was mobbed by young people and Toronto Police were sitting in their cruisers in two places along Polson St, watching for trouble (and praying there was none). When the bus ferrying the delegates arrived on Polson at exactly 11:20 pm there were hundreds of young people swarming down the thoroughfare towards the club in a scene that reminded this author as something from a zombie apocalypse movie. It took ten minutes or more for the bus to crawl through the crowd to unload at the front of the club.
At 11pm that night when the Miss World Canada delegates arrived on their giant bus, the nightclub security staff came out like bees to part the crowd and carve a path through the club-goers toward the busy front door. Inside it was even more crowded and chaotic as the ladies were moved through the morass, and up the stairs to the VIP section above.
Below is a strange picture of people who are NOT miss world delegates – these are locals being cleared out by the staff who told these ladies they would have to leave when the pageant people arrived. This is them leaving and the delegates waiting to occupy the booth.
Below are delegates, early in the night finally getting comfortable at REBEL in the luxury VIP balcony booth. Natalie waved because she recognized this author but everyone was staring at this pack of Princesses in VIP.
Good times as the ladies lined up for group photos from all manner of admirers.
This chorus of remarkable young females was treated to good service all night long. They took selfies with the cutest guys and other minor celebrities in the club who could get past the booth bouncers.
The nightclub people wisely chose to situate the Miss World Canada party in the most prominent position on the balcony, right beside the main entrance and with a terrific view of the DJ Plenty of people down below and across the way spotted our squad and wanted to meet the delegates.
Our booth of honor in the VIP section had a fantastic view of the DJ booth and live show. It was breathtaking really and of course these photos are horrible and can’t represent reality. The particles in the air the lights and sounds and ambience of this cathedral was simply awesome.
So many people wanted to come and take pictures with the delegates, but it was guarded by a giant bouncer; so this was VIP inside the VIP section.
It was a great night..
Great story. Sounds like one of the hottest Toronto parties of the year. On par with the TIFF after parties.
