On 22nd of July 2017 at the John W H Bassett Theatre, backstage at the 2017 Search for Miss World Canada there were some diverse beauty industry professionals. The strangers milling about behind the curtain.included PR agents, fashion designers and wardrobe mistresses. The hosts were backstage too of course, and their assistants and three dance choreographers who stuck around to help stage-manage the show. Yet, in all the hullabaloo there was one artist who had no role except creating his own ‘art’, and he answered to nobody except himself, and he could go just about anywhere he wanted to go, at anytime. Serge Kerbel, cinemagrapher makes living photographs and has a global following.
Serge’s reputation precedes hm – he’s an artist and a gentleman, The PR people backstage and at the show all know him and treated him with great respect – they’ve all seen his Instagrams.. Why was he here? To make art, and history. Here are some of the cinemagraphs he made that night using Flixel cinemagraph system,
Below is Ned Ma or Fashion Ned and he’s called. He’s also a remarkable individual and a top fashion buyer, an artist and a real snappy dresser as you can see by his fantastic choice of apparel that evening.
Ned is cool, but Dahlia’s DeSouza’s cinemagraph is downright dazzling
Dahlia is the CEO of UptotheTime Watches and she spent a few minutes with Serge looking at her timepieces before selecting the Unity watch for the document. The results are breathtaking, its a moment in time..
Below is a splendid sequence Serge captured at the end of the pageant called Flashes.
And here’s the cinemagrapher’s own representation of Cynthia Menard, the 2017 Miss World Canada, fresh from the forge.
