Delegates, its time to USE your blogs. If you don’t have a blog yet, don’t worry ? Please send Christi your information and she will get your portal up and running.
In effort to support women in business we have partnered with two magazine owners who are female entrepreneurs. Delegates will have the opportunity to meet them at the 2018 Search for Miss World Canada – Welcome Party.
2018 Miss World Canada – Blog Assignments
There are three blog assignments in total. In addition to these official challenges, all bloggers are of course encouraged to use their blogs to promote sponsors and inform their social media followers.
Deadline is July 16th for all of them. Note: Number 2 has to be done in order to do number 3.
ASSIGNMENT #1 – Write Up Your Region, Town or City.
As a Regional Delegate in the 2018 Search for Miss World Canada you are an ambassador for some Canadian geography, big or small, and as such you represent the ‘place’ you are from. Please be the eyes, ears and mouth of this place and write about it in detail, offering rare and unique insights into some small part of that place you know so well. Don’t gloss over the whole, but rather dive deep into a tiny corner where YOU are the EXPERT. Maybe it’s the Pizza Parlour where you worked last summer, or the amusement park which has vintage arcade games. Get detailed and write 500 to 1000 words plus two – three (original) pictures of your subject place.
ASSIGNMENT#2 – Write a ‘Guest Blog’ for a Canadian Magazine. You have two choices:* Please choose ONE.
Street Chic is Canada’s Street Fashion magazine; their look-book style blog posts are set up so that users can scroll through the feed on mobile devices for hours, days.
Street Chic seeks street fashion look-book type articles that detail what people are wearing on famous streets in your city or town. The street name and some background on the setting is just as important as the fashion being presented, and so shopping malls, parking lots, residential backyards won’t cut it.
How to submit to Streetchic? Email: Rob@Smojoe.com and info@StreetChic.ca The article should be between 500 and 1000 words – the longer the better (write about the street if no more fashion). The pictures should be sent to editors separately. PHOTOS should be short and wide (rectangular – from edge to edge) and NOT skyscraper tall images that are so common in today’s iPhone photography (so turn your phone sideways).

FemEvolve.com is an emerging power-female focused health and wellness / personal development magazine.
FemEvolve has two categories they will accept guest posts in,
Health/wellness: This can be either a science-based piece on research from scientific articles or the delegates can introduce themselves to readers and share their fitness and wellness regimens.
Personal development: FemEvolve is primarily focused on personal growth/ becoming the best version of yourself. The delegates can write a piece on the mindset they adopted in order to be part of the competition (i.e. positive affirmations, practice visualizations, journal, etc.?) and how being part of the competition has helped them in their personal growth.
HOW TO SUBMIT? Email: FemEvolve Magazine femevolve@gmail.com The content should match what you see there today and be awesome – photos should be attached separately. Photos should be rectangular and stretch across the page, margin to margin. Photos should be included separately alongside a Word doc or Txt doc of the article (or you can even paste in the email).
ASSIGNMENT #3 – The Guest Blog Brag
Now this is where delegates can really show off their style and amaze readers and everyone involved – this is called a guest blog brag. Oh look at me everyone, I’ve been published in FemEvolve! or Here are my friends on StreetChic. Once your guest blog is live on FemEvolve or StreetChic, then the Delegate can refer to it and link to it directly in a blog post on their Miss World Canada blog portal that combines, or contrasts or continues the idea-thread in their magazine blog. It could be a backstory glimpse about the making of, or a behind-the-scenes piece showing the out-takes that didn’t make the original guest blog. Or maybe it has more street fashion, dance-routines or health recipes or life-hacks. Assignment #3 should make readers want to go explore your original magazine guest blog – assignment #2.
NOTE – the best submission to FemEvolve will be featured in the print magazine along with the author in Fall 2018 issue.
