Hello everyone,
I hope you and your families are all staying safe during this difficult time. With everything that has been going on in the world I have been reminiscing about my trip to London for the Miss World Festival.
It was truly unforgettable, and I have made memories and formed friendships that will last a lifetime. I wish everyone had the opportunity to have such a wonderful experience.
I got to meet so many new friends from all around the world. Being surrounded by so many different cultures I learned many things from all of the girls. My roommate was Miss Japan. An interesting fact is her dad is Canadian and from the beautiful province of Quebec. At only 16 years of age Malika, was the youngest ever Miss World contestant.
During my time in London, I got to experience so many fun things like seeing the London eye, exploring Oxford Street and watching the National Opera. We also attended high tea at House of Lords whereBaroness Floella Benjamin gave a very inspiring speech about female empowerment.
It was a very busy time as we competed in a variety of competitions such as a sports challenge, model challenge, head to head challenge, multimedia, talent, beauty with a purpose and interview. In between all of this we spent lots and lots of time in rehearsals to prepare for the final show! Some of my best memories are from the rehearsals. It was during these practices that I really got to know and bond with all of the other girls.
For anyone who is considering entering a pageant my advice is to do it! The preparation is a lot of hard work, but it is so rewarding. I had the opportunity to get to know and be inspired by so many amazing women at every single pageant I participated in. I grew up as a competitive dancer and entering pageants afforded me the opportunity to reignite my love of dance and performance. At the Miss World talent competition, I was honoured to place 3rd overall. Pageantry has also given me the opportunity to become more involved in my community and to discuss issues of importance in Canada.
Beauty With A Purpose is the heart of Miss World. My Beauty With A Purpose project is called Grow & Learn. I was very happy to have it place in the top 20 projects. It’s an issue that is very near and dear to my heart.
Miss World was an amazing experience. I will forever be so grateful and honoured that I had the opportunity to represent my beautiful country of Canada at Miss World 2019.
