Sophia
Sophia “Be kind to one another.” This is the philosophy that Sophia lives by. She is the epitome of confidence and determination, believing that hard work and dedication will aid in her path to success. Sophia aspires to be a nurse one day to be able to help many people throughout her career. Sophia excels in basketball and attained the “Female Athlete of the Year 2015.” She was also selected as “Top 50 under 50” in YMM Magazines in 2017. Sophia’s also a 2nd Dan Blackbelt in Taekwondo and won a provincial Gold Medal in 2018. Passionate, Determination and Responsible are just three words that Sophia uses to describe herself.
Jasmine
Jasmine is a woman who can be described as down-to-earth and genuine. She enjoys learning about new cultures, history, philosophy and arts. She is an artist, specializing in dance (hip hop and latin), as well as drawing and painting. She enjoys travelling, trying new cuisines and learning new skills. In her free time. She also enjoys playing video games and creating comics. Jasmine has spent her time volunteering amongst a variety of cultural groups in Calgary, promoting diversity. She is founded on family values and takes pride in being open minded and curious about all life has to offer.
Megan
Megan is a proud Southern Albertan who’s passion for the humane treatment of animals has inspired her to work towards a degree in animal sciences. As an international model that has walked in major Canadian Fashion weeks, Megan uses her online platforms to spread awareness of current events and share her modelling journey. She uses her spare time to work with local animal rescues and rides her horse for physical and mental fitness. As Miss Southern Alberta World Megan encourages others to never limit their ability or dreams based on the stereotypes of others.
Vanessa
Vanessa grew up on a small farm loving animals and is now currently working at her dream job in a vet clinic. Vanessa was in beef 4-H when she was younger and has learned lots about how to help support her community. Vanessa enjoys the outdoors and loves to be on the move with something always going on. Vanessa grew up in a big family of six, so loves company and being around others. Vanessa graduated from high school in 2018, and the following year graduated from secondary schooling as a vet medical assistant. Growing up on a farm has helped her in so many ways from knowing how to change a tire, to always being able to see the good in people.
Fiona
Fiona aspires to become a future woman leader of the technology industry. She has earned her Master’s in Business Administration and is currently a program manager for HP. She has received multiple academic and professional awards. In 2016, she was named as a Forté Fellow for her commitment to women communities. In her spare time, she loves to play the guitar, travel and learn about various cultures. She is also a first generation college graduate.
Mattea
Mattea is passionate about storytelling through travelling, living across Canada and her Degree in Marketing & International Business. Mattea has an unwavering sense of self from a decade of public speaking, philanthropy, representing Canada internationally four times, and her entrepreneurial nature. Mattea continues exploring unique opportunities for meaningful connections between individuals and community. She successfully launched a marketing company based on inspiring others to embrace their life’s purpose.
Tina
Tina currently works as an Accounts Manager at an Engineering firm, and is currently studying Interior Designing; her goal is to explore every field possible as she never wants to settle for ONE. She moved to Canada at the age of eighteen in search of a better life and financially support her family back home. She says living in Canada has made her Independent, Financially stable and Liberal. She is a Dancer, Music Lover and an Artist. She has a passion for travelling and wishes to visit every country on the globe one day. She believes that your mind is the most powerful thing in the world and that you can achieve anything you put your mind into!
Aastha
Adamant for what she wants, Aastha’s determination and resilience has been built from a young age through the adversities she’s seen and experienced against women. Her diligence has made her the fearless warrior that takes every obstacle in life without hesitation. Her intelligence and thoroughness has been proven through her exquisite time, communication, and people management skills. Confident, dedicated, and versatile, Aastha is the beauty that you’re looking for to fulfill the purpose of being a global citizen.
Sandy
Sandy is a photographer and marketing professional. Her outspoken nature, and desire to empower and inspire young girls is what motivated her to enter this pageant. She grew up in a world where she often heard what she could or could not do simply because she is a woman. She also recalls being urged from a very young age to start thinking about settling down rather than prioritize hobbies. Although ultimately Sandy could make her own choices, she realizes this is not the case for many girls and she wants to be a voice for them.
Ysabelle
Ysabelle is a self-proclaimed video gamer, foodie and fitness enthusiast all in one. There isn’t a moment in time where you would find her staying in one place. She loves to get out to get her sweat on at the gym and enjoys helping out her community any way she can. Currently, Ysabelle is volunteering at the hospital. Apart from volunteering, Ysabelle prides herself as a Filipina Canadian, as she is the first generation of her family born in Canada. She hopes to make her family proud here in Canada and the Philippines, especially her Lola, her number #1 fan.
Sara
While pursuing her bachelors degree, Sara decided to take a risk and pursue golf full-time. Although a late comer to the sport, this past year she partnered with TaylorMade Canada, allowing her to grow her brand and create a clothing company called By Sara Winter, where she raises funds for various charities. As a female in a male dominated sport, she hopes to continue empowering women and increasing the inclusivity on a national scale. Sara advocates for addiction awareness and speaks at elementary schools on the importance of goal setting. Sara believes everyone should have opportunities to pursue their dreams because we all deserve equality.
Mikaela
Mikaela is from Batchewana First Nation and is the first from her area to compete at this national pageant. She is currently Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie where she is studying pre-health with the goal of becoming a sports medicine therapist. In her spare time Mikaela enjoys art and powerlifting. After spending a significant portion of her life in foster care, Mikaela has become an advocate for children abused in the foster care system.
Hayley
Hayley has been Irish dancing and taking ballet classes since she was 3 years old. She has competed nationally and internationally in multiple competitions including the World’s Irish Dance Championship in Great Britain. Hayley also has a passion for music and arts and has learned to play many instruments including the violin, harp and piano. Throughout her schooling Hayley played a key role in organizing many charity fundraisers and continues charitable works today with various organizations. Hayley currently works as a Care Support Assistant and is pursuing her nursing degree with a goal to becoming a nurse practitioner.
Erin
Erin is excited to return to Miss World Canada and showcase all that she has been working on over the past year. When she is not competing in pageants she works for the Canadian Paralympic Committee, teaches dance, is studying for her MBA, and volunteers in many community programs like The You Girl Project and Podcast and The Ottawa Family Cinema. This University of Ottawa Valedictorian is ready to show the World what you can achieve through hard work, dedication, and passion.
Lara
Lara is a highly motivated, political science major and religious studies minor graduate with plans to enter law school. Her battle against acne, and the effects it can have on self-image has inspired her to empower individuals with similar struggles. Her passion for healthy skin care and makeup artistry has led her to study aesthetics in hopes of becoming a certified medical aesthetician. Lara is also a pianist, drummer, tennis player, ballerina and hip-hop dancer who loves to explore new hobbies, such as power yoga. The sky is the limit for this multi-talented young woman.
Mikaila
At 4:00am, Mikaila tunes into her purpose, sets intentions, and begins her day at the gym. Mikaila’s major in Sustainable Commerce paired with international travel for performance arts have cultivated a deep passion for global citizenship. She studies neuroscience to understand the connectedness of humans as we move forward in creating new systems for the Earth during this revolutionary moment in time. Mikaila has spoken for higher education institutions, members of parliament, corporations, athletes, and entertainment media. She treasures singing with her family around a bonfire or grand piano.
Melody
The singer-songwriter’s name was aptly chosen: Melody has a heart filled with song. From age 16, she has been sharing her music on stage and screen as a professional musician. When she’s not making music, Melody donates her time as a passionate advocate of immigrants and refugees and at food banks. Her vision is to create a mentoring program to empower at-risk youth Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) while being a voice for the immigrant experience. In her spare time, she enjoys fitness, travel adventures, fashion, spending time with her loved ones, and learning new things. That and chocolate ice cream!
Maria
Maria is a world traveling entrepreneur with a thirst for learning and teaching holistic facets of personal development. As a women’s confidence coach, Maria inspires her clients to break stereotypes by her example, like when she integrated 20 years of competitive soccer and performed a soccer knee juggling act. A natural leader and caretaker, Maria is a Nurse Supervisor and a recognized inspirational speaker by the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers. A spokesperson for Optimist International, Maria delivers keynotes and workshops nationwide motivating Canadian youth and young adults to “Life Live Alive.”
Sania
Sania has had insecurities about her body throughout her entire childhood and she knows that millions of girls experience them as well. She would want to use her title as Miss Canada to prove that beauty reflects from within and radiates out. Furthermore, growing up she did not see much representation which prevented her from taking risks. Sania wants to become the representation that she never had and encourage others to pursue their dreams. Sania would want to use her platform to share her story, represent her community and spread awareness of the ongoing body image issues and try to reduce or prevent them.
Cierra
Cierra is an accomplished young woman with a heart that is pure. She’s the captain of an Aesthetic Group Gymnastics team that competes internationally for Canada. Her passions include Sports, Art, Fashion, and Makeup Artistry. She’s committed to giving back to youth and will do so by creating a free drop-in art program. Her platform is to advocate the importance of the arts in youth. Cierra believes no acts of kindness are too small, especially at this crucial time of uncertainty that we are facing globally.
Camille
Camille is driven by passion which overflows as fuel to work toward her goals and improving as a person. Camille enjoys singing, songwriting, piano, and learning new topics to continue learning and gain fresh experiences. With years spent being surrounded and involved in various musicals, theatrical events, and artistic environments, this has inspired her to develop a regimen toward the discipline of working on her artistry. As of May 2019, she graduated with a Bachelor of Sacred Music majoring in vocals. Camille actively to pursues her love of music and modelling.
Julia
Julia loves to keep busy! She spends her free time volunteering and giving back to the community. She appreciates the little things, such as quality time with friends and family. Julia is extremely passionate in everything that she does. She loves to try different things and challenge herself to push her limits. She is very introspective and reflective. She believes that everything in life has a purpose. Julia understands the importance of self-care, so she spends time to engage in her hobbies. Her favourite hobby is dance!
Alice
Alice graduated as the Class Valedictorian from the University of Toronto and has completed both her undergraduate and graduate programs in business. She is a CPA, CA and Certified Fitness Instructor. Following her childhood dreams, Alice was scouted by one of Toronto’s top modeling agencies and currently works as a model/actress. Growing up with a love for the performing arts, Alice busks on the streets of Toronto to raise donations for charity. She wants to break stereotypes and inspire others to chase their dreams.
Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn was raised in Toronto, Ontario but unlike any ordinary girl Kaitlyn was born one of three fraternal all girl triplets. Yes! there is 2 other girls on this earth that looks just like her! Kaitlyn and her sisters founded their non – profit Canada Youth funding association when they were 13 in hopes of uniting all children to learn, grow, educate, experience, and create anything their hearts desire. Born into a large immigrant Chinese – Canadian family, Kaitlyn’s upbringing was like no others , at a very young age Kaitlyn understood family and that “Selflessness” is the most important thing!
Sasha
Sasha is motivated by the phrase “keep smiling”, which means the smallest gestures make an impact. Sasha is a teacher and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Cultural and Environmental Anthropology. She is a member of the Royal Ontario Museum Advisory Council. Sasha was the Canadian ambassador to Miss Eco International, founded by the LTCP-UN Project. Sasha has integrated her environmental platform into her advocacy work through her initiative, The Givers Movement. She has had the opportunity to not only share her experiences, but to learn from our future generation of leaders and change-makers across the globe.
Svetlana
Svetlana is a recent business graduate and a young professional in the field of business technology. She graduated with an honours degree in finance from Schulich School of Business and completed a graduate certificate program in Business Communications at Harvard Extension School. Svetlana’s goal is to make financial education more accessible for women across Canada through her free financial literacy program FinPowered. Aside from her interest in finance, Svetlana always had a passion for pageantry and performance.
Yogita
Yogita is an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves art, dance, music, film and fashion. She has been in the modeling industry for 10 years. She has been featured in several magazines, and has been casted in many music videos as the female lead. Furthermore, she coordinates and walks for numerous fashion shows. She is currently pursuing her career in Psychology and wants to specialize with mental health and addiction issues. She loves spending time with her family and friends. Also, she likes to help out within the community with religious and special events.
Melina
Melina is a competitive ice skater and dancer, with Disney On Ice, portraying the princess, Moana. Enjoys bringing joy to the audience and putting smiles on their faces. Has helped young skaters in their skills and confidence, promoting the values of loving yourself and your body. Determined young adult, who is continuingly pushing herself to try new things and achieve new goals. Aspires to be a voice and advocate for young women, non- profit organizations and in all aspects where she can implement positive change.
Keleigh
Keleigh enjoys travelling and learning about other cultures. So far she has visited every province in Canada and 9 countries! She works to inspire people to live happier, healthier lives through mental health advocacy and daily exercise. She loves cooking, baking, yoga, running, and listening to podcasts about Women in Business. She dreams of being a professional actress and starting her own business. Keleigh believes all women are strong, creative, and intelligent and she wants to help all young women to become healthy, strong and empowered to chase their dreams.
Simone
Simone has a love for working along side with children at her work. She has a love for travelling to many tropical destinations such as Cuba, Barbados and St. Kitts. Her favorite relaxation is playing a Caribbean instrument call Steel Pan which is a very popular instrument during Carnival in Toronto. Simone has traveled to Guyana and visited an all boys orphanage where she got to interact with them and learned about their stories they have been through. Simone and her family also bought the orphanage lunch and school supplies for the boys to use.
Tyshaine
Being in love with the need for constant change and challenges, Tyshaine has yet to live that down. Tyshaine has always been super involved in school. She was the President of the Student Association in post-secondary and played five years of varsity basketball placing four times at provincials and two at nationals. Her favourite quote is, “Be comfortable being uncomfortable”, as change is constant, ongoing and prevalent. Her favourite colour is blue, but more recently pink, she loves pizza and crawfish, and claims she could eat it every day. Another interesting fact is that she placed 2nd at Chess provincials.
Laura
Laura is a competitive Irish Dancer and has won Canadian and North American Championships. Laura graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a BSc in Kinesiology, where she placed on the Dean’s List each year. She has volunteered at many physiotherapy clinics and has helped children with various disabilities to participate in physical activity. Laura has completed four half marathons and is training for her fifth. She is a Senior Business Development Representative at a Toronto technology company. She has helped feed the homeless through food drives, working with local organizations and directly feeding the community.
Emilia
Emilia is a first-generation citizen born in Ottawa, Ontario one year, after her parents came to Canada. Emilia’s parents were war refugees for five years from ex-Yugoslavia. Growing up in Canada, gave her lots of opportunities for sports, dance, music, and modelling. Emilia is a natural athlete & musician who has excelled in basketball, volleyball, folk dancing, viola and piano. Currently, she is attending York-University in an honours program for Health Studies and specializing in Management. During her summers, Emilia likes to travel and volunteer. She is fluent in Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, and English.
Aiona
Aiona believes every talent is created within each person for the purpose of serving others. As a hard working individual with great initiatives, she takes those skills wherever she goes. Having founded her own non-profit organization “The Vision Movement” she combines her passion for art and humanitarian aid by organizing fundraisers, campaigns and initiatives in support of different causes. With a strong belief in her dreams and aspirations, she will continue to strive for success, and help people around the world.
Sabrina
Sabrina is currently working as a part time waitress and model, while working towards her dream to be a professional model. Growing up Sabrina had many hobbies. She enjoyed athletics such as track and field and soccer, but she was most passionate about her hobbies in the arts. She was a competitive dancer for 14 years and was also involved in theatre. Sabrina is very compassionate and loves to help others. She thoroughly enjoyed her volunteering experiences teaching children dance, as well as recreational activities with seniors in long term care homes.
Nicole
From a young age, Nicole has always had a passion for the stage. At the age of three, she took her first dance class, and the rest is history. Growing up, she has participated in dance shows, competitions, and plays. Nicole’s love of performing is what led her to the world of pageantry. Not only is the stage somewhere she feels at home, it is also somewhere she feels confident and empowered, which is a feeling she believes every girl should experience. Nicole hopes that she can use her platform to positively impact her community.
Daelyn
Creator of One Step Ahead Girls, Daelyn builds partnerships between the local businesses, providing opportunities and information geared toward young girls about the locally accomplished, tutoring sessions, self defense classes and more! Daelyn is an avid volunteer having gone to Monte Cristi Dominican Republic to teach English at their school and orphanage. She helps seniors with daily living, meal prep, and personal care. Daelyn also prepares meals for students at the local school who suffer from food poverty and volunteers with Not Alone Team- Quinte. Daelyn likes traveling and obstacle marathons.
Olga
Olga recently graduated in Finance and is working as a financial advisor. Growing up in an immigrant family, she watched her parents make many sacrifices to give her every opportunity for a good life. Still, she often felt that she had to work twice as hard to get to the same places as her peers. Today, her mission is to give back through her own experience to the youth in her community. Her goal is to demystify financial education to children and to teach them the real value of money.
Abril
Abril is an artist, a drama student and an entrepreneur who is fueled by the desire to contribute to the development of a more sustainable world and to encourage the expansion of female-owned businesses. She’s a believer of the sustainable and ethical future of fashion and design and she wants to lead the example with her own fashion brand. The main reason she decided to become a professional actor, other than her passion for the craft, is her belief that cinematic art is the most influent media in social development.
Katherine
Katherine’s ambition to be the best version of herself has led her on an incredible journey of self-improvement. She fell in love with the sport of archery this year, and so far, she can hit a bullseye at a distance of 10 meters. She loves singing and practices with a vocal coach twice a week. She has a passion for female empowerment, and volunteers at a women’s shelter in her city, giving facials and makeovers. Katherine’s ability to keep her commitments and stick to her word is strongly tied to her identity.
Julie
Julie is a 3x cancer survivor, animal rights activist, and political trailblazer. After graduating Magna Cum Laude in International Economics, Julie helped pass the most substantial animal welfare legislation in Canadian history, such as banning the captivity of whales & dolphins. She works on political campaigns to get more women into politics. Julie is a public speaker and advocate for childhood cancer research. She works at Crown-Indigenous Affairs to build a more just and collaborative relationship between the Canadian government and Indigenous peoples. Julie loves her rescue pup Theodore, parkour, and yoga.
Laeticia
Laeticia is kind, strong, and was born rich but grew up as an orphan and she never knew that she would lack everything in her life, she struggles a lot in all aspects of her life. The loss of her father at a young age has affected her a lot. she never knows what it felt like to have a father. All the abuse and suffering she went through she never give up on life because she knew that one day the light of God will shine upon her life, she knew that since she is alive there is hope.
Shalom
Shalom is currently enrolled in University with goals to attain a BA.Sc in Economics. She shows poise and resilience by overcoming the adversities in her life. Her work ethic and entrepreneurial skills have propelled her to where she is today. Shalom engages in a youth-led movement for girls’ rights and gender equality and she helps with raising awareness and funds towards ending child marriages and global violence. She wishes to promote her cause through community outreach, charitable services, and public speaking. Shalom believes in making an impact and no better opportunity exist than this, to make a difference.
Natasha
Natasha is best described as a vibrant, energetic, and passionate with a heart for supporting diverse groups. This strong desire to help others lead to the pursuit of a social work degree, as well as volunteering across Canada! She believes in the importance of mental health, emotional wholeness, and physical wellness, which are ideologies she has advocated for continuously. She hopes to inspire, cultivate, and role-model these principles to those around her. In her leisure time she enjoys Latin dancing, playing music, and traveling. While Tasha’s journey is unique, her ambition, dreams, and vision make her truly one of a kind.
